Running at moderate intensity has tremendous benefits not only for the body but also on cognitive function and mental health

According to a new one study, it only takes 10 minutes of moderate intensity running for improve mood and cognitive functions, findings that give us a better understanding of how exercise is closely related to mental health.

The study specifically looked at the prefrontal cortex (PFC), the part of the brain associated with executive functions and mood control, and it was noted that running increased blood flow to this area. Running is a relatively simple activity, as no special equipment is required to get started, and has been shown to extend the lifespan; in addition, the coordinated movement of the stroke requires greater neuronal activation in the prefrontal cortex.

The study involved a total of 26 participants, who were tested after rest periods and after 10 minutes of running; after the exercise it was noted that the participants not only reacted more quickly to the tests but also reported feeling better and in a good mood. All this, according to the scientific team, is further proof that you don't necessarily have to do a lot of exercise to feel the benefits, since even short training sessions can improve mental focus, heart health and overall metabolic health.
