    A man from Barcelona, ​​Joan Moliner, has already saved 1600 antique decorative tiles from the landfill, a real heritage of the city

    In Barcelona over the last few years, several XNUMXth century houses have been transformed into luxury apartments, however, putting at risk a real artistic and cultural heritage of the city. Let's talk about the tiles that once decorated these houses. But one man is saving a lot of them, giving them new life and preventing them from ending up in landfills.





    Every morning Joan Moliner takes his bicycle and begins his mission in the center of Barcelona. What does he do? To save the tiles of the old apartments that would otherwise be thrown away. These are real small artistic masterpieces that Joan recovers from some buildings of the Catalan capital and restores them avoiding that this cultural heritage is lost.

    At the moment he holds about 1600 of these unique pieces and his work is contained in some social pages where you can see all the rediscovered beauty of these ancient tiles. A collection that is the reflection of his predilection for a heritage that often goes unnoticed or is underestimated.

    Tiles are actually an important part of the architecture and history of a city and precisely to restore their ancient splendor Moliner collects them from different parts of the city and then studies their history, cleans and restores them.

    It all started about 7 years ago when Joan recovered her first tile moved by the memory of the tiled floors of her parents' house.

    His idea, as already mentioned, is to save a forgotten cultural heritage but does not exclude that his passion can also become a charity. In fact, he hopes to collaborate soon with a center for the disabled where users can renovate, frame and perhaps sell the tiles.
