An Australian woman filmed a stonefish, a fish that looks like a stone and has poisonous spines

This is the stonefish (Synanceia horrida), a fairly common species in the coastal areas ofAustralia northern, where sightings in shallow waters are not uncommon. A few days ago an Australian bather managed to film a specimen on Bribie Island, Queensland.
The video, shot by Bianca Kristin, shows the strange being as it moves among the shallow waters: those who do not know it, hardly realize they are dealing with a poisonous fish. The woman posted the video just to invite bathers to to keep the eyes open, since the specimen was taken in an area that was also very popular with children.
The body of these particular fish, between 30 and 40 centimeters long, is covered with 13 sturdy and sharp pinse, endowed with poison glands. In general, stonefish remain motionless, partially buried by the sand and perfectly camouflaged in the environment. However, when the fish is disturbed, it erects its spines to defend itself and these can injure swimmers and swimmers, causing excruciating pain that can last several days. L'poisoning it can cause muscle paralysis, difficulty breathing and, in some cases, heart failure and death.
To defend yourself it is necessary to wear thick and resistant footwear and, in case of stings, go to the emergency room as soon as possible.
