Invent ingenious "ball" that traps the microfibres of the washing machine before they reach the ocean

Invent ingenious

Cora Ball is a special ball made with soft and 100% recyclable plastic, which collects microfibres that detach from clothes during washing in the washing machine, preventing them from ending up in the oceans.

Every time we wash our clothes, these lose plastic microfibres which, through the drains, end up in our oceans without us noticing. To deal with this problem, which represents the umpteenth cause of water pollution, the American researcher Rachel Miller had a great intuition and created a very useful object that takes the name of Cora ball.

It is a special orange-sized ball, made with soft and 100% recyclable plastic, which collects the microfibres that detach from clothes during washing. Just put it in the washing machine together with your clothes to prevent the microfibres from compromising marine ecosystems.

How Cora Ball works

Cora Ball has been designed to withstand even the highest temperatures of washing machines and dryers. To design it, Rachel Miller was inspired by the corals of the oceans.

“Coral does exactly what we need” - reads the website dedicated to the innovative product - “It captures little things from running water. Cora Ballp is easy to use and clean. It slips through the laundry and, just like coral, lets the water flow, while it collects those bits of microfiber and catches them between its stems. Independent tests conducted by Dr. Chelsea Rochman's laboratory at the University of Toronto and the University of Plymouth have shown that Cora Ball prevents up to 31% of microfibers from entering the drain ”.

The special design of Cora Ball not only collects the microfibres which must then be removed at the end of the wash and then be disposed of correctly, but prevents the clothes from being damaged, making them last longer.

The product, which is expected to last for years and is made from recyclable plastic, costs $ 37,99 and can be purchased through the website. Would you buy it?
