In the States, the Senate has just passed the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, a bill that will soon ban sleepers and cushions for cots, as well as cradles and inclined reducers considered unsafe for babies.

As stated in the note, this bill will make the manufacture, sale or distribution of crib bumpers or inclined sleepers for babies illegal.

Specifically, sloped infant beds are those designed for a baby up to one year of age and have a sloped surface greater than 10 degrees. Bumpers are generally padded materials inserted inside a crib and designed to prevent the baby from being trapped in any open part of the crib.

This was announced by the consumer association Consumer Reports which has carried out a long investigation into the case of dangerous beds and which has revealed dozens of deaths related to infants who sleep at an angle, such as the Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper, which have been largely unregulated until now.

Three years of hard work and tears have finally paid off in justice for our angels and another step towards the prevention of future deaths. As we approach what would have been Alexander's 15th birthday, I can now have the peace of knowing that we've helped save other parents from this never-ending pain, says Sara Thompson, whose XNUMX-week-old son died during the year. sleep in the Fisher-Price “Rock 'n Play” cot.

Meanwhile, how can parents stay calm while their puppies sleep? Attention only to a few simple rules:

    • never use sleep reducers
    • never put pillows, blankets, sheets, duvets or quilts under the baby. Babies do not need pillows and appropriate clothing can be used instead of blankets
    • avoid putting toys, even soft ones, in the cot
