In the UK the slaughter of pigs has begun due to the shortage of butchers. 120 thousand will be cut down, but will not be destined for consumption
He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him
In recent weeks, Great Britain has been facing an unprecedented crisis: the one that concerns slaughterhouses, where thousands - about 120 thousand - of pigs will be uselessly exterminated, without being slaughtered and destined for human consumption. And the cause of this situation is to be found in the shortage of workers in the sector, one of the many brought to its knees after Brexit. In the United Kingdom, there is an increasing shortage of figures such as slaughterers, as well as deliverymen and drivers. Following the exit of Great Britain from the European Union, there has been a 15% decline in the availability of specialized personnel in the slaughtering sector.
"It's a huge waste," said Lincolnshire farmer Meryl Ward with a bitter mouth, urging the British government to recruit competent workers from other countries to deal with the crisis.
Well done all – very clear message to Govt. They can’t say that they have not been informed @SaveGBBacon @NatPigAssoc @BorisJohnson Boris – how long ‘waiting and seeing’ before you act? https://t.co/hs8xVwswWV

600 animals already exterminated (including piglets)
So far, around 600 pigs have been killed on farms across the country, according to the National Pig Association (NPA). And, according to industry experts, the carcasses will be processed and into other non-food products. This is because they cannot be classified as fit for human consumption, given that the law requires them to be slaughtered in special facilities and not on farms. And to make room in the farms there are also those who exterminate the smallest pigs.
There are producers who euthanize piglets. They ran out of space. Thus they tend to suppress the youngest - explains Rob Mutimer, president of the NPA - The problem in the sector has significantly worsened in the last three weeks. A cull involves shooting pigs on the farm or taking them to a slaughterhouse and disposing of them in no time. These animals will not enter the food chain, they will be returned or sent for incineration. This is nonsense.
And, while the slaughter of pigs continues in various farms, in the meantime, cheaper meat from abroad arrives in British shops and supermarkets. Faced with this dramatic situation, the UK trade associations have proposed the introduction of a one-year visa that would allow hiring truck drivers, butchers, chefs and other food industry workers.
It is truly distressing to witness this insane slaughter helplessly ...
