Thanks to "Eco-shopping project", The result of the collaboration between the Province of Terni, Confesercenti, Confcommercio, Novamont and Ceplast, was born on bio-shopper, the eco-friendly shopping bag.





    The new shopping bag is called Mr. Bi, is made with Mater-Bi® material, completely biodegradable, compostable, made with renewable resources from agriculture. It is a shopper that respects the environment, because - among the buckets dedicated to separate collection - it can be thrown in the wet and is therefore totally recoverable.

    Mr.Bi - or biodegradable - was created to face and find an immediate solution to progressive replacement of traditional plastic bags, which will be banned from 1 January 2011.
    The bio-bags, biodegradable and compostable, will be distributed in 800 points of sale in the Terni area and will allow companies to adapt to new regulations without incurring excessive costs. But that's not all, because the Mr.Bi project has very specific objectives.

    Some examples?

    • Promote, facilitate and support the progressive adaptation of the businesses involved in the ban on the marketing of non-biodegradable bags for the transport of goods;
    • Spread the use of shopper in the territory of the province of Terni which are biodegradable and compostable;
    • Enhance the biodegradable materials and products of the provincial production sites, or the use of local supply chain products, produced by local industries;
    • Create a exportable model in other territorial contexts;
    • Promote the environmental culture of traders and citizens, but also the correct and sustainable management of the waste produced, precisely through the use of biodegradable shopping bags that can be reused in separate waste collection;
    • Promote waste reduction at source.

    And also, thanks to the diffusion of Mr.Bi, there will be a net savings in greenhouse gas emissions, a cut that will oscillate between 29 and 190 tons of CO2!
