In Ghana a house built in beaten earth was born e recycled plastic. The idea is by Anna Webster, a student of the London Metropolitan University School of Architecture. The project is perfectly suited to the rural area for which it was designed.

Anna Webster's proposal was part of a competition created to collect proposals to build new houses in the Ashanti region, in Southern Ghana. The house blends traditional clay walls with recycled plastic and creates a pattern easy to imitate throughout the region.

Traditional construction methods can therefore be associated with more modern techniques and resistant materials. The competition for the collection of projects was organized by But the Foundation, a non-profit organization created to promote humanitarian engagement through the arts, including architecture.

The project was made so that the house could maintain a constant internal temperature despite external fluctuations. To protect the external walls from the action of water, a natural substance derived fromcassava starch.

Much of the internal structure of the house was made by reusing waste materials. These are unused resources present in large quantities in Ghana. The recycling of plastic bags has been found useful for the construction of the windows and the roof of the house.
