Summer, desire for holidays, relaxation and the sea. And while the toto-catchphrase goes crazy (who will take the place of waka-waka?), We already know what the greatest torment will be: the tiger mosquito! Insect famous for being operational both day and night, it is the least welcome gift of the summer with its annoying, annoying and insistent nocturnal buzz and its even less popular stings.

But in Trentino we run for cover: to identify the areas suitable for its settlement, the dreaded mosquito was spied with satellites by a group of researchers from the Agricultural Institute of San Michele all'Adige. The researchers Markus Neteler, David Roiz, Cristina Castellani, Annapaola Rizzoli, Daniele Arnoldi, using the ground temperature data collected from space, have developed a state-of-the-art analysis methodology, publishing the results obtained in the scientific journal PlosOne.

By processing more than 11 data, they managed to create one potential distribution map, discovering that the Adige valley, the valley of the Lakes, the area of Lake Idro and the southern Valsugana are the climatic areas more favorable for the insect. In this way, the map produced will be able to support local administrations in monitoring and control operations. Know in advance which areas are most at risk it can be a great advantage to contain the inexorable advance of this mosquito, whose population increased over this period by 28% last year. In addition, the method can also be applied for ticks and others insects.

But, waiting for the extension of the application of this method, all that remains is to do it by itself. So here are many natural remedies to ward off the tiger mosquito, from fish that are greedy for it to containers that welcome bats. But also ecological traps, stagnation management and anti-mosquito plants.

And now? All to dance the Kuduro Dance free from stings!
