The flowers of the aromatic herbs must be cut to allow the plant to live longer and produce more fragrant and tasty leaves. So let's see how to reuse the freshly pruned flowers:

  • let them dry;
  • let them dry in a cool dry place on a paper towel;

Once this basic operation has been carried out, we have more possibilities of use:

  • arrange them in a centerpiece or bowl together with a few drops of the essential oil we prefer;
  • put them in the confetti bags together with two drops of essential oil and use them as perfumers for cabinets or drawers. We will have easily created very fragrant potpourri to give and use to decorate and perfume the house. (How to use spices, flowers and herbs to scent your home naturally)
  • If we have several sprigs, especially sage or lavender, we can band them and create sticks to burn as do-it-yourself incense (Read: Smudge stick: what is it and how to prepare the ancestral bunch of dried herbs that purify the house

As we did for the flowers, make sure to dry the leaves in a cool, dry place. Once this is done, we keep them in airtight jars. We can use the leaves in the kitchen in a thousand ways:

  • for cooking meats and sauces: bay leaf, rosemary, basil, oregano;
  • for the preparation of tea and herbal teas: mint and lavender are the most popular.

How to store seeds

Even the seeds of these precious aromatic plants can be dried in the same way, after which we can also use them like this:

  • we will keep part of it to grow new plants in spring;
  • we will use part of it in the kitchen to enrich our dishes: we weigh with fennel seeds, also widely used for purifying herbal teas, with dill or chervil seeds. (see also: Pumpkin Seeds: The Tricks for Properly Storing and Planting Them Next Year)
