  • 100 gr of whole cane sugar
  • 3 or 4 tablespoons of raw cane sugar separately

Wash, dry and peel the oranges, trying to eliminate the white part. Cut the orange peel into strips about half a centimeter thick.

In a saucepan pour 500 ml of water. Bring to a boil, add the orange peel and then let it simmer for 15 minutes. Drain and let the orange peels cool. Dry them very well. Keep them aside in a bowl.

Take the saucepan again and this time pour 500 ml of water and 100 g of whole cane sugar. Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve the sugar well. Then add the orange rinds and simmer over low heat until the rinds are soft, for about 30-40 minutes. If needed, add a little more water to the preparation and continue cooking to soften the rinds.

When they are soft, drain the peels and let them cool. Now you will have to cover the orange peels with whole cane sugar. It will take about 3 or 4 tablespoons but you can reduce or increase the quantity according to your tastes.

Line a tray with baking paper and arrange the orange peel, cover with sugar on both sides. Then let them cool completely for a few hours, even all day or all night.

If the peels still appear moist after the standing times, dry them in the oven at low temperature or in the dryer, until the desired result is obtained. You will be able to keep in the fridge in a food container for a few days, until ready to use them, or freeze them and store them in the freezer for one or two months.
