How to water the plants with water when we are not there? To take care of your "green" daughters when you are forced to stay away for a couple of days, there is a simple, economical and very "green" way: use glass bottles to make a vase that water itself.
Based on the principles of physics, the self-irrigating cup will ensure that plants have enough water when needed, even better than a drip irrigation system. The first thing to do to make the sprinkler pots is to find several glass (or plastic) bottles. There will also be a need for one small wire mesh and a wire.
If you have opted for plastic bottles, cutting them will be child's play: use a knife or a utility knife. If, as in the images, you have chosen the glass for a more pleasant aesthetic effect, it must be cut very carefully. We can buy specific tools, but we can also use the method indicated in our previous article, using a thread. The important thing is not to forget to caret the edge well to ensure that there are no sharp edges.
After solving the bottle problem, the rest is a breeze. We take a piece of thread and adapt it to the size of the bottle. We make a small cut in the retina, through which the string will pass, and we fasten with a knot. The wire must be long enough to reach the bottom of our new pot, in order to take advantage of all the water that we will make available to the plant.
Once ready, we insert the net into the top of the bottle. The string will come out of the bottle neck. Finally, we fill the bottle with good soil and settle the plants in their new home. We put the bottle neck upside down in a container full of water. Now you can leave for a peaceful vacation. But be careful not to stay too far out: the plants need you!
