We have seen several ways to recycle old newspapers, but there is one that is simple and really affordable for everyone to make envelopes and bags using just the sheets of newspapers. We have seen several ways to recycle old newspapers, but there is one simple and really affordable for everyone to make envelopes and bags using precisely the newspaper sheets. The result is a nice one paper eco-bag, also fairly resistant, which you can use, just to give an example, as a packaging for your gifts.
Materials needed:
- - Old newspaper;
- - Spillatrice;
- - Cardboard (I used a piece of shoe box);
- - Satin ribbon, cloth or cords for the handles.
How do
Take two sheets of newspaper, placing the ones you like aesthetically on top. For example, I chose an advertisement in which Ascanio Celestini appeared. It must be said that the envelope will be large based on the format of the newspaper: (I used a tabloid).
With the stapler, sew the entire outer part, taking care to staple at about one centimeter between the staples and from the edge.
Then fold the side you just sewn in and out again. Same with the other side.
At this point, using your fingers, you must try to bring the flaps of both sides internally as shown in the figure.
Once this is done, you have to slightly bend the bottom side (about two cm) and pin everything again at a distance of 1 cm between the pins.
Now make a further fold up on the side just stapled (about 5 cm)
Then fold the flap down (about one cm) and pin everything again. Press firmly on the fold to strengthen it.
Once this is done, put one hand inside the bag and the other on the outside to open the bag and insert the cardboard cut to the same size as the bottom to get the base.
At this point the only thing missing are the handles which must be stapled on the inside of the bag. To make them, I recycled a satin bow from an old gift, but you can also use a cord (in this case by piercing the envelope) or do it with the newspaper itself, but in this case it would be less resistant.
And voila your paper bag is ready!
