If it is not possible to remove the coverings and curtains, the vaporetto can be used, with the special accessory for upholstery. A few drops of lemon, orange or lavender essential oil can be added to the vaporetto water. If the smell has not gone away completely repeat the operation several times.



Sprinkle the baking soda on the fabrics

Baking soda is very effective against the smell of smoke and also against the odors of animals, urine and mold. Just sprinkle the surfaces with baking soda, preferably just opened because it is more effective. Leave it to act for at least half an hour and then vacuum it. If the odors persist then it is better to repeat the treatment, leaving the bicarbonate to act for at least two hours or overnight.

Corn starch for cleaning and deodorizing

Corn starch has an absorbent power similar to that of baking soda. In fact, it is used to clean rugs and carpets and even to eliminate bad smells from sneakers or clothes. It is nothing but cornstarch, if we have it at home we can use cornstarch to eliminate the smell of smoke from our furniture.

DIY anti-odor refreshing spray

We fill a spray bottle with water and add drops of essential oils that are particularly effective against odors. The most effective essential oils against odors are lemongrass, eucalyptus, mint, and cinnamon.
