Today, inspired by this post, let's talk about how to creatively recycle wine corks and create comfortable and practical labels for plants.
In the past I spent weeks trying to remember what I had planted and above all where; until the plants have grown large enough to recognize them, but with these nice labels the problem could be easily solved.
Here's what we need:
- Old wine corks (alternatively, silicone ones can also work)
- Oldest First bamboo skewers
- A little drill battery powered
- A wooden drill bit suitable for the size of the bamboo skewers (preferably with a slightly smaller diameter)
- A permanent ink marker in the color of your choice.
Here's how:

- Let's start first writing the name of what we have or want to sow on our corks with the permanent marker. Choose one with a fine tip so you can write more easily on the caps.

- With the drill make a hole in each cork in correspondence with what you did with the corkscrew to uncork the bottle of wine. Try to go deep, about 2/3 of the length of the cap.
- Now cut the bamboo skewers to the length you prefer with a pair of scissors or garden shears.
- Insert the bamboo sticks into the holes on the caps. Be careful to push the skewers all the way in so as to have an optimal seal.
- And your recycled labels are ready.
- Finally, each pot will have its own and you will know in every moment what you have sown.
