A few years ago, Veena Dansinghani lost 70% of her hair in just one month. Conventional medicine failed to help her in any way but the woman did not give up. By relying on Ayurveda and completely changing her lifestyle, she managed to save her hair and now she also helps other people who have to face the same problem.

Hair loss is physiological but in some cases, when it is very copious and occurs at a young age, it is the consequence of some pathologies or therapies that are being faced. In these cases it is a traumatic, sudden and rapid event.

And that's exactly what happened to Veena Dansinghani, who was 39 when she lost 70% of her hair in just one month. She has been diagnosed alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks hair follicles, leaving parts of the scalp and other areas of the body bald.

A shocking experience and a situation that Veena struggled with right from the start, relying on several specialists but always being disappointed. Just when she thought there was nothing to be done and was warned that she would likely go bald, the woman, of Indian descent but resident of Hong Kong, decided not to give up, taking matters into her own hands.

She turned to Ayurveda, the ancient and traditional Indian medicine, asking advice from Ayurvedic and homeopathic consultant Vinod Sharma.

“In Ayurveda, we believe that a person's physical and mental constitution, called prakruti, is composed of three basic energies called doshas: vata (air), pitta (fire) and kapha (water and earth). A person's health depends on the harmony of these energies, and any imbalance in them can lead to health problems, including hair loss. An unbalanced vata causes the scalp to be dry and the hair brittle and frizzy, excessive kapha leads to an oily and clogged scalp and aggravated pitta leads to hair loss, ”Sharma explained.

Veeda also consulted Rohit Shah, an Ayurvedic specializing in alopecia who explained:

“The causes of hair loss could be many: poor diet, irregular lifestyle, inadequate sleep, stress or anxiety. The health of our hair is also related to the health of our gut. A nutritious diet that addresses dosha imbalances is very important. Ayurveda tries to address all these factors ”.

Veena had to turn her life upside down: she changed her diet, sleep, habits and used Ayurvedic hair treatments (oils and pastes based on natural ingredients) but she did it. She must have been bald and instead her hair today is more flowing than ever.

"I stopped eating junk and packaged food and added fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet," he said.

She also started practicing yoga and eventually became a certified teacher.

“I engaged in a daily practice. Poses like surya namaskar (sun salutation), vajrasana (lightning pose) and sarvangasana (shoulder support), improved my blood circulation and the practice of breathing techniques (pranayama) helped balance my nervous system "

The positive change took place within the first six months of starting Ayurvedic treatment. The hair began to grow back healthier and stronger than before. A change that has become fundamental in her life and has made her take a very specific direction.

The woman, in fact, has decided to become a wellness consultant herself, in order to help others fight alopecia, recommending a correct lifestyle and a healthy diet.

In 2018, Veeda founded the Naveda wellness center, where it helps to combat mental, physical and spiritual disorders based on Ayurveda and naturopathy. Its mission is to inspire, empower and educate people to live consciously.

"I never imagined that what began as a personal journey to combat hair loss would lead to the work I'm doing today"
