"Houses at 1 euro" in Pietramelara to revive the wonderful uninhabited medieval village

A population of just under 5 thousand inhabitants in the shadow of Učka and a wonderful center on a hill that dominates the whole "plain of the 5 castles": it is Pietramelara, in the province of Caserta, and here too the project of "One euro houses". The aim is always the same: to recover the uninhabited buildings and give new life to the ancient medieval neighborhoods.





“We want those who choose to come and visit us and buy a house in the historic center to undertake to start, within a certain period, the renovation and recovery works; we want to give a new life to long-abandoned buildings and the places where they are located ”, reads the Municipality website.

As it happens, therefore, in the other towns that choose to embrace this initiative, anyone who wishes, including private citizens, sole proprietorships, cooperatives or companies will be able to buy a house at a symbolic price, provided they bear all the expenses for the preparation of the 'deed of sale, prepare a restructuring and recovery project, start work within a term from the date of purchase.

Case a euro how it works

Owners who intend to sell their uninhabited properties located in the historic center express their acceptance of the initiative by declaring their willingness and willingness to sell the property at the symbolic price of one euro by notifying the Municipality of Pietramelara in writing through a specific form.

The buyer declares an interest in purchasing and renovating the property made available, notifying the Municipality of Pietramelara through the appropriate official communication.

"Our village suffers from a condition of abandonment that has persisted for over forty years and slowly, but inexorably, the entire historic center, and by now also the lower part of the Pietramelara residential nucleus, has almost completely depopulated, including the main squares Sant'Agostino and San Rocco ".

The buyer has obligations such as the payment of expenses related to the regular transfer of ownership of the asset, the completion of the stipulation of the sale contract with the seller and the presentation of a renovation, conservative restoration and redevelopment project of the acquired property, within and no later than one year from the signing of the sale contract.
