Un huge hive colored, painted on the gray skin of an old building. We are in Saxony, Germany. Here Marina Zumi has given a touch of joy to a corner building of Halle, one of the main cities of the region.
His work, not surprisingly called "Honeycomb of Life”Participated in the All You Can Paint - Urban Art Festival, an annual event aimed at revitalizing Halle, whose population is in constant decline.
“The organizers of All You Can Paint contacted me and explained the social situation and the fact that the competition had registered 60% fewer participants compared to the previous year. I decided to join the festival and do something about it. When I found out which building I had to paint on, I was happy as hell for its size, but I didn't know what to do with so many windows " he said in one of his articles.
So, while studying while leafing through a book, she accidentally came across a page about bees' nests.
“It was a great time! And she made me think about how bees behave in parallel with humans ”.
So Zumi agreed to participate. The challenge was not so much to design colorful murals to enrich the dreary building but to do it creatively. Painting a large facade was not a problem but it did have to find a solution for the many windows of the buildingso: Zumi solved the dilemma by creating a honeycomb design.
And this is how the 800 square meters of the facade were entirely covered in yellow, green, orange, blue.
The painting process started in early November last year and ended about 12 days later. The spectacular painting also includes 11 large bees, each representing a member of the festival's organizing committee.
The Honeycomb of Life also includes miniature landscapes.
