A group of Hollywood stars has decided to support the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society campaign to ask supermarket chain Costco to stop selling salmon from the Faroe Islands.

A group of Hollywood stars has decided to support the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's campaign to ask the supermarket chain Costco to stop selling the salmon coming from Faroe Islands.

In fact, the brutal and archaic still takes place on the Faroe Islands mass slaughter whales, Dolphins and other cetaceans, known as grindarap or simply grind.

Le star who have decided to send a letter to the CEO of Cost Craig Jelinek in collaboration with Sea Shepherd are the actors Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver), Eric Balfour (Haven), Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner), Ross McCall (24), Cliff Simon ( Stargate SG-1), Clive Standen (Vikings); actresses Shannen Doherty (Charmed and Beverly Hills 90210), Perry Reeves (Entourage) and Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Last week a herd of at least 30 cetaceans were slaughtered during the first grind of the year on Viaoy Island in the Faroe Islands.

To the Faroe Islands hundreds of cetaceans are slaughtered every year and continuing to sell and buy salmon from this place means, according to Sea Shepherd, supporting the economy and at the same time not realizing how worrying the continuing slaughter of whales and dolphins, already endangered species, is.

Whales and dolphins are harpooned, dragged ashore, killed by breaking the spinal cord and then brutally slaughtered. No cetaceans are spared, not even the youngest or pregnant specimens. Here is that every year the shores of the Faroe Islands are tinged with blood to the great disappointment of animal rights activists.

In Sea Shepherd's opinion Costco by financially supporting salmon fishing condones a brutal act like the slaughter of dolphins and whales. For this reason, according to Sea Shepherd it should stop selling this product.

According to Sea Shepherd, Costco now has the opportunity to demonstrate an interest in defending endangered animals and the ecosystems of the oceans.

“We need to let people know that the blood of intelligent and social whales and dolphins stains every packet of salmon from the Faroe Islands. This slaughter of cetaceans, defended by Denmark, must have been economically scuttled. I encourage all interested parties and consumers to do their part by boycotting salmon from the Faroe Islands at Costco and wherever it is sold ”- explained Paul Watson, founder of Sea Shepherd.

The appeal comes shortly after the publication of a documentary on the massacre of cetaceans in the Faroe Islands filmed by Sea Shepherd.
