The PFAS, also called forever chemicals, sadly make a comeback after researchers from Duke Univeristy, Wayne State University, and University of North Carolina at Charlotte have found a 'high quantity of these perfluoroacrylic acids in anti-condensation spray for glasses and in some anti-fog technical clothing

Researchers tested the best-selling and best-reviewed glass sprays and anti-fog clothing items on the Amazon platform and came across staggering results: in all products examined in the laboratory it was found the presence of fluorotelomeric alcohols FTOHs and ethoxylated FTEOs.

Our tests showed that the anti-condensation sprays contain up to 20.7 milligrams of PFAS per milliliter of solution, which is a rather high concentration.

riporta Nicholas Herkert, ricercatore della Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment.

The risks caused by the most widespread classes of PFAS, namely the perfluorooctanoic acid PFOA and the perfluorooctane sulfonate PFOS, are well known, but the scientific literature on these FTOHS and FTEOs is not enough. However, experts speculate that these substances have one toxicity equal to PFOA and PFOS

Researchers urge people to limit the purchase of these products due to the Covid-19 epidemic they have had a very wide use. In this historical period, anti-condensation sprays have in fact become a must have for those who must wear glasses, together with the mask.
