The sky of Beijing, gray and gloomy because of the smog that dirties the air. Despite the interventions, the city can rarely admire a beautiful sky clear. But it happened about two weeks ago when Chinese officials banned the use of the cars.

Five million machines they stayed home to make way for the largest parade in Beijing's history, the one that celebrated the 70th anniversary of Japan's defeat in World War II. On that occasion, the Chinese authorities decided to give citizens something that they usually lacked: one extraordinary day of blue sky.

The weather certainly helped but the fact that the cars all stood still was even more so. A real event for the people of Beijing, which cost weeks of preparation.

Not just cars. In fact, officials have also ordered the temporary closure of the most polluting factories in the whole region, the ones that fill the air the most with gray.

For two weeks, Beijingers had the opportunity to admire a beautiful blue sky. Unfortunately, however, the party did not last long. On Friday all the bans fell, the cars returned to the streets and factory production was restarted.

A brief flash of clear sky, now a rarity for the Chinese people.
