Why pay exorbitant amounts to buy tiny houses in the city, when, at a lower price, it is possible to have a “portable” house, to be placed wherever you prefer? This is what the designers of the Monarch Tiny Homes, the American company that launched Half / Half, the essential and transportable “tiny house”.
Half / Half is a real miniature house (6 meters x 2,5, with a total height of 4 meters) that can be purchased for $ 22.000 (plus taxes, transport and delivery costs). The small house on four wheels is already prepared for gas, electricity, water and drains, while it is customizable in the organization and furnishing of the interior spaces.
Hence the name, which means "Half and half": the producers provide the external envelope and the essentials and leave it to the buyer to complete the tiny house with furniture and decorations of their own taste.
The external structure of the house is eco-compatible, as it is made with a recycled wood fiber based material and recycled plastic bottles which guarantees, together with the low-emission windows, a excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. The style is rustic and, thanks to the wheels and the hook, the small house can be transported almost anywhere, like a caravan.
Costs double, reaching $ 47.000, if instead you want a tiny house with the same characteristics but complete with interior furnishings and already habitable: in this case, the house has a large living area with kitchen, table, pantries, wardrobe and bathroom and, above this, a loft large enough to accommodate a double bed. An essential housing solution, of course, but with the advantage of also being economical and sustainable.
