Gummy vinegar supplements are popular on social media, but are they really so beneficial?

Gummy Apple Cider Vinegar Supplements Made By Goli Nutrition Go Crazy On The Web, But All That Glitters Is Not Gold

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Gummy apple cider vinegar supplements made by Goli Nutrition are going crazy on the web, but not all that glitters is gold. Much of the claimed beneficial properties are not confirmed by any studies.

In recent times, some supplements that boast extraordinary beneficial properties have become very popular, especially in the United States: we are talking about the apple cider vinegar gummy candies, produced by the American company Goli Nutrition. To sponsor these particular supplements on social media, soft and with a bright red color, on social networks - such as Instagram and TikTok - are both influencers and ordinary people.

Their popularity is truly amazing, but are they really as health benefits as claimed? In reality, not all that glitters is gold. Indeed, recently the National Advertising Division, an American body that evaluates the truthfulness and accuracy of national advertising, intervened to contest the claims used for the product and the properties it boasts.

According to the firm Goli Nutrition, the special apple cider vinegar gummy candies - which also contain vitamins B12 and B9 - would help relieve digestive problems, provide more energy and visibly improve the skin.

What is true about the benefits of the supplement from Goli Nutrition

However, in the report recently published by NAD, it is clarified that "the health benefits associated with apple cider vinegar are linked to a much greater amount of acetic acid, the 'active' ingredient in apple cider vinegar, compared to that of Goli's gummy candies ".

The company declares, in fact, that two candies contain 1 gram of apple cider vinegar, but in fact this is not the case and the concentration of substances that can bring benefits is significantly lower than those contained in liquid apple cider vinegar. As you know, apple cider vinegar is rich in phosphorus, sulfur, iron, magnesium, potassium and especially calcium.

Furthermore, there is an important consideration to make regarding the so-called "mother" of apple cider vinegar, a filamentous sediment formed by a real bacterial colony, rich in polyphenols and other beneficial compounds.

“Some gummy candies claim to contain the mother in their composition. However, it is unclear what effect the supplement processing has on 'mother' function, ”explains Lauren Manake, a noted American dietitian who collaborates with Verywell Health magazine.

While there are several studies that confirm the health benefits of liquid apple cider vinegar, there are currently none on the gummy version.

Unfortunately, there are no studies evaluating the effectiveness of ACV gummy candies. - Dr. Manaker clarifies - To assume that taking this ingredient in a gummy form can have the same health effects as taking it in liquid form could be an exaggeration. We can't say for sure until we have quality clinical trials to evaluate the effects.

Better to opt for really effective supplements

In short, if you want to obtain concrete health benefits, it is better to opt for supplements, the effects of which are supported by evidence, and above all to follow a diet adequate to your needs.

"Another option may be to take a high-quality multivitamin that contains not only B vitamins (such as those found in Goli gummy candies), but also other nutrients that people are often deficient in, such as vitamin D to achieve some. health-related goals. - concludes Manaker - There are many solutions on the market supported by concrete data and instead of apple cider vinegar candies.
