Can wool work wonders? To answer, let's look at what happened in Cesenatico, where 3000 flowers in all shades of pink, all made crochet and fabric, sewn one by one in 30 meters network, have embellished the bridge of the Vena Mazzarini, in Via Bologna. A corner of poetry, romance and refinement created thanks to the 4-month work of 34 women of the association A sea of wool.

The handful of 'knitting machines', which last year gave birth to the wool bridge to combat the dullness of the Adriatic city, Also this time he braided wool, embroidered and sewed to make 6 panels of 5 meters each, with thousands of flowers, juggling with knitting needles and crochet hooks as with brushes, in a palette.

The area was the inspiration for making one true work of art, everything was born from a watercolor painting created for the occasion by Claudia Magnani, which skilled hands transformed into wool and fabric with all shades of pink. They were used approx 30 kg of wool and other alternative textile materials such as felt, cloth, tulle, satin, organza were introduced. The assembly technique was carried out by sewing all the flowers one by one on nylon nets, which in turn were subsequently anchored in place.

“Flowering in spring is an event of nature that stimulates emotions and perceptions in each of us, we abandon the gray of winter to admire the blossoming of flowers in an explosion of colors in every corner of the earth. Flowering and rebirth it is also what we hope for this place, which the citizens of Cesenatico have loved and still love, a place that has marked the history of the city, the “Vena Mazzarini” and the former dolphinarium ”, explains the association.

Also for this installation, the reference to meeting and resting places is not accidental, the bridge over the "Vena" is a pedestrian area, allowing you to stop in peace, away from traffic, in the silence sometimes broken only by the sound of the mirror fountains of water below. This project, like the previous ones (Ponte di lana and Conserve), is totally self-financed.

But not everyone seems to have liked the installation: the guerrilla knitting work has been stormed by someone who has seen fit to cut a good part of it and deface it. So today the vein has faded. And the association, to which all our solidarity goes, was forced to remove the flowers.

“About 2 meters of net have been perfectly cut out, not torn but cut, so we are more inclined to think that it is not some guy's vandalism. Whoever made this gesture thought it well, he equipped himself with scissors and cut the picture perfectly to take home. The entire installation has also been removed due to the fact that we are approaching the PINK NIGHT, famous for the fun of the Riviera but unfortunately also for vandalism. We will wash the nets, we will recover the panels even with new flowers, then one day it will come back. Thanks to everyone for the solidarity shown ”, concludes Un Mare di Lana.

Can wool work wonders? Sometimes yes, but not always, unfortunately.
