What, however, could make a skyscraper in Dubai interesting is if it were built in full compliance with the principles of eco-sustainable architecture such as the Abu Dhabi Investment Council Headquarters, a green building project with a design that winks decisively at traditional Islamic architecture.

    Right mix between past and future, in fact, the Abu Dhabi Investment Council manages to look ahead without forgetting the cultural origins of this land. The project, presented by Aedas, the fifth largest architectural firm in the world, involves the construction of the two exclusive towers, located at Al Qurum Beach, intended to house both offices and private apartments.

    In particular, the ground floor area of ​​the new headquarters of the Council of Architects will extend for more 32.000 m² and will be for commercial and office use with a full service restaurant, coffee shop, fully configured auditorium for up to 150 people and a multi-use conference room.

    The towers will have 29 floors each, roofs oriented towards the south entirely covered with photovoltaic panels which will provide at least 5% of the energy needs of the entire structure.

    Particular attention will also be given to the brightness management. Through gods tinted windows will be possible reduce also the energy consumption for the refreshment about 25% less than any other building of similar size.

    Trees and plants will enliven the outdoor spaces including one palm reserve and water features forming an elegant pedestrian path to connect the two towers. Three open air gardens they will be placed on the upper levels of the towers, thus further reducing the accumulation of solar heat on the most exposed façade.

    The two gigantic towers will reach a height of 145 meters, they will probably be completed in 2012 and will be considered the real gateway to the city.
