    The Textile Museum of Prato inaugurates a new exhibition area dedicated to the circular economy and innovation in textiles and fashion.

    A bag made from apple scraps, shoes using cellulose extracted from pineapple leaves, recycled wool, organic linen and cotton materials, recycled nylon or biodegradable polyester fibers in sea water, recycled denim knitwear.





    These are just some of the eco-sustainable products that can be found in new exhibition area dedicated to the circular economy and innovation in textiles and fashion that the Museum of the Prato fabric inaugurates, to complete the tactile path dedicated to the knowledge of raw materials and transformation processes.

    The creation of the exhibition area is closely linked to the Textile Library, a unique and extraordinary archive of its kind, dedicated to contemporary textile materials, created after a long work of study and research to give new impetus to the Contemporary Section, thus relaunching the vocation of Museum for the communication of innovation in the textile sector.

    “We are happy to finally be able to share this new project with the public - declares Francesco Nicola Marini, President of the Textile Museum. The archive of contemporary fabrics is enriched with new contents that we make available to students, teachers, designers, professionals and operators in the textile and fashion sector, while the new exhibition area aims to be not only an instrument of knowledge of contemporary fabric, but also of education for conscious consumption ".

    The Textile Library presents itself not only as an archive of fabrics - from clothing to functional fabrics for sports, furniture, engineering and architecture - but also of fibers, yarns, accessories and materials for fashion, divided into thematic sections, continuously updated and evolution that researches, studies and archives innovative and experimental products, coming directly from leading international companies in every sector, but also from start-ups and research centers made available to designers, professionals in the fashion and textile sector and specialized training, students and companies.
