Veneto increasingly pet friendly. Governor Luca Zaia announces that:
"By next summer we will have a law to guarantee the necessary veterinary care to the pets of people, the elderly in particular, in situations of economic difficulty".
We all know how much the presence of a four-legged friend can be a panacea for physical and mental health. For example, the elderly who are left alone place all possible affection in them. This category, however, with a minimum pension, sometimes fails to guarantee them the necessary veterinary care. Now the Region will take care of the dogs, cats and other pets of poor people, while the local Rotary office will take care of the expenses for the pilot project.
“To those who smile in front of initiatives like these, I remember that the level of civilization of a community is measured by the attention it pays to animals. You can't love a person if you don't love animals, ”explains Zaia.
The pilot project
The “Project for the first visit and vaccination of pets of poor people and elderly people” referred to the Pieve di Soligo District of Ulss 2 has already been signed and will be valid for three years. The goal, as we said, is to ensure that people who find themselves in difficult economic conditions can adequately care for, and keep in good health, their pets.

“The initiative provides that for those for whom the state of poverty has been previously ascertained by the competent municipal administrations, various veterinary services can be provided, including dog microchipping, sterilization and other surgical interventions deemed indispensable. Visits and interventions will be carried out at the “Città di Conegliano” veterinary hospital.
