UPDATE 18/07 Yesterday the law was approved by the regional council. So now the council has to draw up a regulation and from about November the questions will be able to start.

Puglia will be the first region to implement the energy income. Thanks to public funds, the less well-off will have the photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the houses available on loan for free. One way to cut your bills by making use of clean energy.

A similar initiative had already been started in Sardinia, in Porto Torres, but it is the first time that a region has applied it.

The bill presented by the Apulian councilors of the M5S (Antonio Trevisi, first signatory) brought everyone in agreement and was unanimously approved in the joint session of the Board Committees IV and V.

In fact the proposal provides forinstitution of the regional energy income, a system according to which the Region will purchase a series of photovoltaic systems for users, then making them available on free loan for 9 years (renewable up to a maximum of 25 years), to families who are in difficult conditions socioeconomic, following a specific announcement.

For their part, users will have the sole commitment to activate, through a specific agreement with the Energy Services Manager (GSE), the exchange on the spot of the energy produced by the plants.

Thanks to the possibility of autonomously producing energy and transferring to the Operator the energy produced "in excess and not consumed, the families affected by this initiative will achieve, on the one hand, significant savings in their bills and, on the other, will help protect the environment by reducing the use of energy produced from fossil sources ".

This legislative initiative will also be financed thanks to the funds allocated by the 2018 regional stability law, which made around 8 million euros available for the years 2018-2019-2020 for energy efficiency interventions and for the diffusion of renewable energies in residential buildings. private.

    The goal is to

"Progressively replace fossil fuels with zero-emission ones, thus bringing benefits to the health of citizens and the environment, without compromising, but consolidating and strengthening, the sustainable growth path of the Apulian economy".

For its part, Puglia is pushing to reduce its use of fossils, with a nod to renewables for the production of electricity. By 2030, it has set itself the goal of producing 32% of energy from renewable sources.

Now it will be up to the regional council to give the definitive green light to the proposal and draw up the specific regulation.
