New food alert from the ministerial authorities who have removed from sales the fragolino rosso, a flavored wine-based drink of the Gorghello brand.

According to what is stated in the safety notice of the Ministry, Ochratoxin A is present in the drink in quantities higher than the legal limits. This is the 75 cl bottle characterized by production lot n ° 90032. The producer is Contri Spumanti, based in Cazzano di Tramigna, in the province of Verona.

Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by Aspergillus ochraceus, hence its name. It has been found to be carcinogenic to animals but also nephrotoxic and teratogenic. It is naturally produced by some molds and can be found in a number of foods including grains, preserved meat, fresh and dried fruit, and cheeses.

Recently, EFSA found that it directly damages DNA and can also be carcinogenic to the kidney. This is why it is regulated by European law.

If you have purchased this product, avoid consuming it and bring it back to the point of sale for an exchange or refund.
