Time for beautiful walks, meadows and trips out of town so… time to picnic, but are you really sure you know how to do it properly? Food poisoning and dangers are always lurking!

Always think of some basic rules of food safety, but not only: if you use i Tupperwared never put them in the heat and then maybe get those nice thermal bags or backpacks to store your food so that it stays cool throughout your day outdoors!

Bring manuals such as "Wild plants - How to recognize them, collect them and use them in the kitchen"from Roberto Chiej Gamacchio) to recognize at least some of the plants that you meet during your trip, it can also be an educational moment if you have children, do not pick flowers or plants for that just one camera so you will always have your perfect memories.

Food safety: the rules of the perfect picnic

As far as the food is easy: Typical foods for a picnic are rice salads, sandwiches or why no vegetable sushi and all these foods must be prepared in advance so they require enormous care during their preparation, in order to make sure that no unpleasant accidents happen.

La basic rule which is perhaps sometimes too underestimated is: wash your hands thoroughly before preparing your own dishes, which is not only hygienically necessary but also very nice to do when preparing food for others.

Another sore point is absolutely don't prepare picnic foods too many days in advance. Cooking foods early leaves more time for contaminating bacteria to attack and then old food doesn't have the same nutritional value and taste as freshly prepared food!

Again, think carefully about what do you decide to bring: fruit is a perfect food, but be careful which one you choose and if you can always wash it even if it is eaten without peel!

Finally if you decide to do a little BBQ respect the security rules and be respectful of the environment in which you find yourself, clean up everything and try to think that it is you who are occupying the territory and not that the territory is yours!

Finally, beware of irritating insects and plants and playing in advance bring an insect repellent ointment (perhaps self-produced with tea tree, sweet almond oil e neem) and one post-irritation like the one based on calendula ... and have a good picnic!
