The recipe for fire cider

First you need to get the following ingredients:

  • Raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar (about 2 cups)
  • Ginger (1/2 cup)
  • Turmeric (1/2 cup or a teaspoon if it's the powder)
  • Lemon (1/2)
  • Orange (1/2)
  • Pepe Jalepeno 2
  • Peppercorns (1 tablespoon)
  • Thyme (4 sprigs)
  • Rosemary (3 sprigs)
  • Garlic (1 head)
  • Onion (1/2)
  • Horseradish (1/2 cup)
  • Cinnamon (2 sticks)
  • Honey (optional for those who want to sweeten the drink)

There are several variations and there are those who also add other ingredients or omit some. A famous recipe is that of Martha Stewart, American TV host.

How to prepare it

We recommend slicing, shredding (or grating) all the ingredients, placing them in a sterilized, airtight glass jar to be filled with apple cider vinegar (so that it covers and exceeds all spices and herbs by an inch or two) . After about a month, the liquid obtained is filtered and a sweetener is added if necessary. At that point it is ready to drink.
