The story of Bellavista Estate (from "finca", farm, and "Bellavista", name of a nearby river) begins seven years ago, when Matt ed Erika Hogan they visit the rainforest in southern Costa Rica in search of a place to retreat to escape the chaos of the city.
Captivated by the beauty of the area, they buy the land and start working on it construction of a tree house, following the standards of sustainable architecture, so that the construction is integrated as much as possible into the surrounding landscape e make the most of ventilation and natural lighting.
The first treehouse is gradually added to the others, until they form a complex of tree houses completely surrounded by greenery and able to accommodate is a small community of residents, both of passing guests, who want to savor the beauty of the forest for a limited period of time. Finca Bellavista is in fact part of a network of ecofriendly hotels in Costa Rica, for travelers looking for an adventurous experience and total immersion in the most unspoiled nature.
New residents and guests are welcome as long as they abide by a set of rules and share the principles that led to the foundation of the community: desire to live in harmony with the surrounding nature and conservation of biodiversity. In particular, new residents can build their own tree house as long as they follow sustainable building criteria and are required to purchase a biodigestore, to convert waste into energy and produce electricity and heat.
Finca Bellavista is connected to the surrounding world by a series of ziplines and suspension bridges and it "occupies" an area of over two square kilometers. However, it is not known exactly where it is located. The information available on the web tells us that it is not far from the Golfo Dulce, on the ocean Pacifico, and that the nearest inhabited center, just over two kilometers away, is not touristy and is rather small, with a school, a church, a few houses, a single grocery store, a bus stop and a field of football.
The founders openly declare that they do not want to disseminate further details regarding their location on the web but to be ready to offer more precise information to those who want to contact them to reach them and share, for a few days or for a longer period, their experience.
The small community attracts eager people get in touch with nature without interfering with its course, respecting biodiversity and ecosystems.
A truly unique experience, which demonstrates how a life in harmony with other animal and plant species is not just a dream or an unrealistic aspiration, but can turn into reality.
