The goal set for dollars 4000 it has been exceeded by almost 500% with a total of over $ 19 raised up to now thanks to the crowdfunding. Danielle and Claire, who until recently managed the Ten Speed Greens Urban Farm, they involved the youngest friends to write a pin-up calendar.
The farm, which supplied vegetables to 13 restaurants and numerous buying groups, closed in the summer of 2014, when the owner of the land decided to use it for construction. The two women do not give up and want to carry on their life mission. They decided to become landowners with the help of those who will support their project.
The pin-up calendar for 2015 is just the beginning of the fundraising process. The money raised through crowdfunding will be used to print the calendar and the money obtained from the sales will be used for the purchase of the land. Their goal is to create one urban farm which may produce food for the whole community, educate the next generations of farmers and bring consumers closer to the benefits of local and seasonal products.
The photographs of the friends chosen as models are flanked by vegetables positioned in strategic points. In this calendar there is no vulgarity, but a lot of irony and desire for redemption. Of course, there remains the bitterness of having to go this far to draw attention to the importance of agriculture and to save one's work in direct contact with nature. Meanwhile, Danielle and Claire are already thinking about next year's calendar, which will once again enhance the beauty of the female body, perhaps alongside the typical tools of working in the fields.
