Farewell to little Thai Dumbo, the baby elephant forced to play the harmonica and perform stunts at the Phuket Zoo, has died. He was reduced to skin and bones and the petitions and complaints of animal rights activists were of little use to free him from this horror.

We talked about it just a month ago, about this emaciated elephant forced to beat his trunk to the rhythm of rave music, forced to do senseless stunts and play musical instruments. A painful training made of severe punishments and in the end the little Thai Dumbo died during a performance.

Its hind legs gave out and the skeletal elephant didn't make it. We had told his story and shared the petition launched by Moving Animals asking for his release. But despite the hundreds of signatures, the animal remained there, in a cage, forced to entertain people with unnatural gestures and far from its animal welfare.

“A tragic and horrible end for Dumbo. His skeletal body clearly suggested he was unwell and suffering from malnutrition and exhaustion, yet the zoo did nothing until it received international criticism, ”explains Amy Jones, co-founder of Moving Animals.

Due to the hard training, the elephant broke its hind legs, but the zoo intervened after three days, when by now for him, weak and exhausted, there was nothing more to do. Because, it is clear, that the fractures were only the straw that broke the camel's back.

After being admitted to a veterinary clinic, the vet explained his clinical picture.

“He had an infection that resulted in constant diarrhea, which caused other health complications, including his body not absorbing nutrients as it should, which made him very weak. An infection that had been going on for months ".

A story that we never wanted to tell and demonstrates once again the suffering of animals in captivity and yet there are those who continue to feed this business, going to see these ignoble shows. As always, we urge you not to do it because no animal deserves to end up like this.
