Fairy Stones, here are some stones that look truly magical. You may be thinking that someone has carved them specifically in this way, but in reality it is simply the work of Nature.

Fairy Stones, here are some stones that look truly magical. You may be thinking that someone has carved them specifically in this way, but in reality it is simply the work of Nature.

Let's talk about fairy stones of the Harricana River, which flows in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, in Canada. These stones represent natural conformations and are characterized by a smooth and flat side and a second side that seems to be handcrafted and reminiscent of fairy tale illustrations.

These special stones were formed over thousands of years by depositing calcium carbonate on small pebbles or fossils. Local people call them Fairy Stones for hundreds of years and indigenous people in the past have used them as lucky charm during their daily life.

In fact, they believed that wearing a "magic" stone could protect against evil spirits and give good health and prosperity. Geologists believe these stones may have formed beneath a glacier that retreated thousands of years ago.

The stones would then be deposited along the banks of some lakes and rivers. One of the main ones is the Harricana, the second longest river in Canada. The word Harricana is said to derive from the indigenous term Nanikana, which means "the main street".

These stones they are often found under clay deposits or in mud. It would be the clay to create their decorations, while the smooth side would have been smoothed by the ancient glaciers and water. At first glance they look like ordinary stones, but when they are collected, theirs appear fantastic designs.

Each Fairy Stone is unique and inimitable. The "fairy stones" are so beautiful that someone has thought of put them up for sale looking for a profit. We think it is much better to admire them directly in the places where they are found or in photography, without being collected for sale.

Alternatively, you could simply collect some of these stones so that they can become part of a museum for everyone to be able to admire. Do you agree? In the meantime we can be amazed thanks to images that portray them.
