This is how a collective of artists in France decided to go to work to give life to scenes and images that make concrete, through the situations they represent, our most common anxieties about the end of the world and to the ultimate fortunes of humanity. According to some theories, December 21, 2012 will represent the moment of the closing of a cycle and the beginning of a new phase of our existence.
If the end of the world and of humanity it is to be considered a certainty, we do not know what causes it will have nor do we know the moment in which it will take place. What are the most common assumptions about it? A sudden drop in temperatures, up to glaciation, a pandemic, the fall of a asteroid, uncontrolled, progressive volcanic eruptions disappearance of the water and darkening of the sun, just to name the best known.
Through Apocalypse Show, the French collective of photographers Three8 he managed to stage characters capable of symbolically representing the possible causes of the end of the world. To this end, they start from everyday scenes, which are pushed to the point of absurdity. Their personal vision of the apocalypse removes the same from science fiction and amazing scenarios, inserting it in everyday life, in a common space, while still managing to forcefully convey their message.
The images thus created are useful for drive away our fears and, at the same time, they allow us to reflect on our own lifestyle habits may have effect on the fate of the planet, with particular reference to pollution, carbon dioxide emissions, land consumption, deforestation and climate change.
For characters depicted on the Apcalypse Show time seems to have stopped, fear is trapped in their eyes and we can in turn try to stay calm and decide to go to work for defense of the planet, remembering how important it is every day to live with respect for those close to us and the environment in which we live, never forgetting to seize the day.
