For this the structure it remains suspended rather than being nailed to the trunk, so as to embrace the tree rather than penetrate it.
Composed of twelve tree houses, surrounded by the green Bruce Peninsula forest, which is part of the World Biosphere Reserve Unesco, Èterra Samara has a design that is inspired by Samara, an indehiscent dry fruit, similar to an achene, with expanded pericarp to form a membranous wing, able to exploit the force of the wind for a wider spread of the seed. Like samara, the house also has its own “wing”.
La sleeping it is found in the “fruit” section, while the socialization area it is located in the “wing” section. Each of the twelve houses of the resort is rotated and designed for every single tree trunk on which it must rest, in order to adapt and make the most of the functionality of the site and the lighting conditions, also to obtain complete privacy for the occupants. The owner's intent has always been to balance ecology, economics and ethics, the three "Es" at the base of the name of ÈTerra.
Currently in the planning stage, the tree houses will be built and installed in the coming winter months, in order to cause the minimal disturbance to the surrounding plants. The structures will form a part of the larger village of ÈTerra, “committed to creating a regenerating place in the forest that is in harmony with nature. The existing facilities are LEED Gold certified and the kitchen serves seasonal, organic and local food ”.
