Environmental Art: Sally J. Smith's Fairy Houses

While the world around us seems to be running faster and faster, no one, or almost anyone, has a moment to stop and admire the nature that surrounds us with admiration. Surrounded as we are by concrete, we have almost forgotten that true beauties arise very close to us, without the need to make any effort. We may need a little help to reconnect to Nature with a capital letter. The artist Sally J. Smith, for example, is committed to creating small works of art in harmony with the environment, to draw the observer's attention to it more.

While the world around us seems to be running faster and faster, no one, or almost anyone, has more time to stop and observe nature with admiration that surrounds us. Surrounded as we are by concrete, we have almost forgotten that true beauties arise very close to us, without the need to make any effort. We may need a little help though reconnect to Nature with a capital letter. The artist Sally J. Smith, for example, is committed to the rcreate small works of art in harmony with the environment, to draw the observer's attention to it more.

Sally J. Smith defines his works as part of the “Environmental Art”, a form of artistic expression that aims at respect for the environment and natural places, as well as their enhancement from an aesthetic point of view. They are born in this way, from the hands of the artist, case fatate, miniature gardens, statuettes, small fountains and other creations that Sally often decides to make on the spot while she is in the woods, making use of the presence of foglie and twigs scattered on the ground.

Each creation dedicated to Nature, which is deposited in the place where the idea for its realization was born, comes later photographed so that you can always have an image of it with you and show it to the world through the website that Sally has decided to create, calling it Greenspirit Arts. The artist talks about the realization of her artistic works also through a blog full of images that recall those of her fairytale landscapes that each of us in childhood would have liked to visit.

Given the success of her creations, Sally has decided to give more space to some of her most loved works: the little houses of the fairies. After having populated the woods and gardens chosen by the artist, they are now also made to measure, so that everyone can choose how to embellish the chosen natural corner even more and make it magical. The little houses of the fairies are always born in the same way, that is from collection of twigs, leaves, pebbles, pieces of bark and other natural and usable materials, which can be recovered without causing any damage to trees and paths.

Each of them is subsequently embellished and enriched with numerous details and colors, so that it can immediately recall the fairy world linked to fairy tales and legends. The images creations themselves can be purchased and used as prints to embellish the interior spaces of homes, so that they too, at least in part, can be transformed into magical and enchanted places that immediately recall the beauties offered to us by Nature.
