After geothermal decree, approved in early February, could be the right time for the production of electric energy from biomass, or from agricultural processing waste, but also from specific crops intended for this and, therefore, often indicated with the name of agrienergy.

After Interministerial Committee in fact, a decree, currently to the attention of Ministry of Economic Development, with which they will be established government incentives to reward companies that will produce electricity from biomass through an incentive mechanism that provides for a contribution of 0,28 cents for every kilowatt produced from implants below a total power of 1 Mw.

It is therefore no coincidence that these are plants "widespread" systems which should favor agricultural entrepreneurs, even from smaller companies, del beet-sugar sector affected by the economic crisis. The provision, in fact, which provides for an allocation of funds equal to 20 million euros for the construction of new plants, is part of the financing project of conversion of sugar factories in crisis and demonstrates once again that, through respect for the environment, it is possible to implement "green" policies to the direct benefit of the economy as well.

The news of the provision was given directly to the Minister of Agriculture, Luca Zaia who, responding to a parliamentary question from the deputy UDC Mauro Libè, which called for incisive aid measures to beet sector-sugar in crisis, and also gripped by regulatory uncertainty on the presence of state aid and incentives for the future, explained that the provision with which it is intended to finance the production of electricity from biomass is an amendment to the general provision of support for the sector beet-sugar to help whom, after the meeting of 3 March, further extraordinary instruments could be envisaged.

"As per the conclusions of the meeting of 9 September 2009, this administration took action in recent weeks - informed Zaia - at the presidency of the Cabinet for a further convocation of the Interministerial Committee. The new meeting was set for Wednesday March 3 and will evaluate the possible extraordinary tools to unblock the impasse caused by local vetoes in which the reconversion projects fall - said the Minister - "We continue our attention to those agri-food companies that choose to invest in innovation and renewable energy from agricultural biomasse".

“Agroenergy - he added Zaia - they also represent a precious opportunity for farmers to diversify their income, especially in a delicate situation like this one. All this responds to that Green Economy model that we strongly support, and which contributes to the sustainable development of the various territories "

The loans will be primarily intended for plants with a strong innovative content up to 1 Mw500 thousand euros and intensity not exceeding 40 percent of the investment cost. With this provision, the Ministry plans to finance plants for a total capacity greater than 30 MW electric, all powered by biomass of agricultural origin compatible with the environmental sustainability criteria dictated by the European Union. The procedure will be jointly managed by the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies and by Enama - National Body for Electric Power Agricultural Mechanization, with a maximum contribution equal to

In general, aid to finance the beet-sugar sector in crisis will have a maximum amount of 43 million euros a year for a total of 86 million for the two years of interest, 2009 and 2010, commensurate with a national sugar production of 508.379 tons.
