What is the emotional diet and what is the lifestyle that promises to make you lose weight by leveraging emotions. A sui generis diet that puts us at peace with the world

If it is called emotional and emotional, the reason is easily explained: often, behind our overweight, there is a strong influence on the part of our feelings and emotional needs. And that is why some people would find it beneficial in the so-called emotional diet which, unlike the others, would guarantee not only weight loss but also continuity in the results on a humoral and physical level. But what does the emotional diet consist of?

This type of diet is basically based on one point: le repressed emotions, like rabies, they have repercussions on health and on the onset of chronic or degenerative diseases. And not only. When a person is very unsure of himself or in pain, for example, he continually feels the need to protect himself from the world. And to do this she many times withdraws into herself, like a hedgehog, and as a consequence her body responds.

In some cases, the body becomes rigid, in others, the answer has to do with weight: the body "asks" for high-calorie foods and creates layers of fat that protect the body.

What is the emotional diet

This is why, rather than a diet in the strict sense, with "emotional diet" we mean a real path, a series of specific techniques of emotional work. In addition to a certain type of diet, the emotional diet includes a certain lifestyle and the correct management of anger, anxiety, fear, sadness or joy.

It provides, better, what advocates - experts especially in Nutraceuticals - define "daily diet of emotions and food": in the same way that we would take drugs to treat anxiety, for example, so we would take certain types of foods to reduce or keep our weight.

This is the answer to the already extensive scientific evidence that some forms of bulimia and anorexia nervosa, such as nervous hunger, are a consequence of stress and the emotional management of anxiety. Just as it is clear that some junk foods and the abuse of sugars are harmful to the body and psyche.

When being overweight has to do with the emotional factor it is almost always linked to two feelings: insecurity and anger.

Insecurity and overweight

If a person is very unsure of himself, all he wants to do is create a shell. An armor that is often physically represented by the fat that the person is able to accumulate on himself to "protect himself" from the outside world.

Anger and overweight

Maintaining feelings of anger and resentment can also cause the body to respond with weight gain. Sometimes, it seems easier to get angry than to forgive. And ruminating and piling up anger instead of talking about it is one of the reasons the body reacts by gaining weight.

It is clear, therefore, that the keys to conducting an emotional diet have to do with the counteract those feelings that generate distress and overweight.

The first step is to strengthen your security and for this an excellent way is to change negative expressions with positive affirmations. For example, if you always say "I can never finish anything", you start saying "If I want, I can finish anything".

The power of affirmative sentences to improve the way you see yourself is far greater than you can imagine.

The second thing to do is to try to eliminate anger and resentment from your life. There are also many ways to do this, but the best way is to try to get the negative thoughts to pass. That is, when you think of something that makes you very angry, try not to dwell too much. Remember that it hurts, so become aware of it but then let it go. Let it flow.

It costs a little, of course, to change the focus of one's attention and for this reason it might be useful to repeat a phrase such as: “I am willing to develop and build the life I want responsibly”.

To follow an emotional diet is also helpful:

  • keep track in a diary of the moments when "hunger" is only dictated by emotions. When you find out, stop a step earlier: instead of eating, try to "attack" the emotion that would lead to food using the previous techniques
  • increase serotonin levels in the body. The happiness hormone can be activated in many ways: by doing an exercise that you enjoy, listening to music or having sex with your partner. Being happier is part of an emotional diet!
  • remember grandma's advice: “don't eat when you're sad”. This popular knowledge is very true: if you are distressed, food will not change your feeling. On the contrary: after eating you will feel worse
  • remember that knowing how to manage emotions is a great way to lose weight

Emotional diet, the foods to prefer and those to avoid

Serotonin is the key word. The so-called "happiness hormone" is the one that most of all brings back the good mood.
This is why, whether or not an emotional diet is followed, foods capable of raising serotonin levels should be consumed:

  • fruits and vegetables
  • nights
  • peanut butter
  • carbohydrates (pasta without excessive toppings)
  • rice and whole grains
  • fish
  • white meat
  • fresh cheeses
  • yogurt

Here you can find everything about the Serotonin and on foods that contain it.

The emotional diet also takes advantage of the properties of healing herbs such as rodiola rosea, passion flower and hawthorn in the form of herbal teas.
