You will be able to get a refund equal to 10% of the amount spent up to a maximum of 3 thousand euros per year, therefore 300 €

Electronic payments, now there is little time left. There is a new piece for the new system that partially reimburses the purchases made by card or ATM, included in the so-called August Decree: the Senate could vote on trust on 5 October next.

This Government provision aims to encourage the use of ATM and card payments in spite of cash and to combat tax evasion. You will be able to get a refund equal to 10% of the amount spent up to a maximum of 3 thousand euros per year, therefore 300 €. However, purchases made online are not valid, only those in physical stores.

Inserted into the August decree, the new measure launched just over a month ago could get the definitive go-ahead from the Senate next October 5, as announced today. This is a real anti-cash solution for which 1,75 million euros have been set up for 2021, funds that will be used to reimburse part of the purchases made through cards and ATMs.

In other words, every time we make a purchase, if we pay with electronic money we can get a total refund of up to 300 euros.

    Who is it for

There are no limits. The ATM bonus is available to all consumers who use these forms of payments, as an alternative to cash and who will spend up to € 1 from 3000 December but only for a certain number of transactions.

    How to get the bonus

As anticipated, we start from next December 1st. Since then, all purchases made with the cards will be added together and subsequently refunded. The Ministry of the Economy is also at work, which is trying to standardize the main digital payment operators. If the current information is confirmed, refunds should be made every six months directly to the bank account of those who made the purchase in physical stores using the cards. So you can get up to 150 euros per semester, for a total of 300 euros per year.

It is likely that to obtain the bonus the user must also register on the IO app of the Public Administration, in which he will have to indicate in addition to his tax code also the card to be used for payments and the IBAN on which to receive the reimbursement. At the time of purchase, you will have to show the shopkeeper a QRcode generated during registration and use the card or ATM with which you registered on the app.

A solution that also goes well with the receipt lottery, another solution designed to combat tax evasion. It involves the extraction of a series of prizes linked to payment by tracked means. A mechanism could incentivize card purchases.
