It is with great satisfaction, therefore, that we welcome the news of the opening, after that of Terrasini, of another waste shop in Sicily, in Cinisi in Corso Umberto, 381.

Do you remember the initiative of the Ecopunto di Niscemi? It is an innovative shop to transform waste into a resource through bartering in which citizens can have food goods in exchange for plastic, paper and aluminum duly differentiated. An initiative promoted by the Sicilian cooperative which we liked very much and which led us to deepen the experience by interviewing its promoter. It is with great satisfaction, therefore, that we welcome the news of the opening, after that of Terrasini, of another "waste shop" in Sicily, in Cinisi in Corso Umberto, 381.
The inauguration, which took place last July 9, confirms the validity of this original green business which, starting from the bottom, manages to combine legality e Sustainable Development, and above all to involve young people, nourishing the ecological feeling of the new generations. As you can read from the site, the core business of Ecopunto is represented by the "barter of those assets owned by the citizen otherwise destined for disposal, with local food products and basic necessities. The goal of making the practice of recycling economically more convenient for users, is achieved by opening of a shop (ecopunto ™ - the barter shop) in which, without the aid of particular systems, the convenience generated by recycling".
But how does an Ecopunto work? In practice, consumers can collect plastic, aluminum, paper and cardboard at home and go to the Ecopunto, where the waste brought will be weighed and transformed into points, loaded on a card, which will then be transformed into foodstuffs, products of the Liberambiente Cooperative and goods of first necessity. In the future, in addition to food, it will also be possible to exchange tickets for the cinema or theater as in the programs of the Cinisi Ecopunto managers there is the desire to enter into agreements with other commercial establishments in order to further encourage recycling and thus increase the percentage of differentiated waste.
