E coli: the intestinal bacterium that is frightening Germany. Here's how to fight it!

Do you remember when we talked about Escherichia coli (Ehec), the fecal germ that lives in the intestines of warm-blooded animals and which would be able to produce biofuel? Today the same fecal bacterium, E.coli, returns to the headlines, but this time with less encouraging and optimistic results: Escherichia coli has already made 3 victims in Germany and risks making others in the coming weeks.

In fact, it seems that this bacterium is spreading rapidly in many German regions, initially manifesting itself with stomach pains, dysentery and hemorrhagic diarrhea, which could lead to something much more serious.

    But what is the cause?
The reason for this outbreak could lie in the vegetables fertilized with slurry and not washed well before use in the kitchen.
In fact, the company canteens in Frankfurt are particularly closely observed by the German authorities, where a batch of contaminated products seems to have arrived, which caused 19 people to feel very unwell.

"It is not a new intestinal germ - said Reinhard Burger, of the Robert-Koch Institute in Frankfurt - but what is exceptional is that in a large number of cases there is the onset of serious diseases".

Therefore, in order not to take any risks, it is good to follow the advice of the German media (which should then be the basic principles of our kitchen hygiene) which invite citizens to carefully wash raw fruit and vegetables before using them.
