Dream, the Sicilian dog with a muzzle disfigured by a firecracker with a great desire to live

Dream, the Sicilian dog with a muzzle disfigured by a firecracker with a great desire to live

Dream's adventures started in the worst way, but now the dog is in the hands of vets and volunteers and can be adopted

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

Our Sicily is a land rich in culture and boundless landscapes, but in this wonderful island, unfortunately, stray animals are rampant and the many volunteers - already overworked and with animals to be adopted - fight every day with abandonment, emergencies and mistreatment. And in fact the story of Dream, one of the many Sicilian dogs saved from the worst, begins just like that.

In the province of Trapani, in Partanna, someone had the bad idea of throwing a firecracker on a dog in the area, regardless of the suffering of the animal and of this horrible gesture that is just not funny. Noticing that poor dog, passers-by have fortunately contacted the “Felici nella Coda Onlus” association which has not pulled back.

Dream, as they called him, was rescued by some volunteers with an immense heart who immediately turned to a private veterinarian, not being able to take the dog to a shelter or to the kennel where he would inevitably be asleep because the interventions he needs are complex. as well as of a certain cost.

And so the emergency dressings began, the first intervention to remove the parts of the muzzle in necrosis, prevent infections and allow the dog, through tubes, to breathe at least from what was once his nose. The situation is very delicate as well as the condition of the animal, but Dream is responding well to treatments and the values of his analyzes are good.

Dream then underwent a maxillofacial reconstruction surgery performed by a specialist from Bologna and now continues his therapies thanks to the help of the volunteers who monitor him day and night and the generosity of the many people who in recent days and weeks in the past they have supported Dream's medical expenses with donations, lightening the already too heavy load of volunteers.

Dream is now much better, she is eating and he has a great desire to live, to continue "dreaming" of a life different from the one he has lived up to now as his name reminds him and to soon find a family of heart that can make him forget the pain he experienced and let him know love, as he is already experiencing thanks to the volunteers.

Does Dream take cuddles and kisses from Aunt Cinzia? Everything is going well, on March 18th Dr. Nicoli from Bologna to visit Dream and to plan an intervention, while our little guy will continue the laser therapy.
