Do you know that there is a ranking of the hottest peppers in the world? Well it looks like one new variant grown in Wales you get to be like this so "hot", not only to enter the Gunness of Records but also to be used as a real anesthetic natural.
Currently the chili spiciest in the world and the Carolina Reaper, boasting 1,569,300 SHU. This acronym indicates the level of spiciness according to the scale devised by the American chemist Wilbur Lincoln Scoville.
Now a decidedly extreme new chili variety has been selected by Mike Smith, a Welsh plant producer, in partnership with Nottingham Trent University, This is the “dragon’s breath”, or Dragon breath which could even be dangerous leading in some cases to anaphylactic shock with consequent closure of the respiratory tract.
Actually the new chili, whose spiciness è estimated at over 2,48 million SHU, it seems to have been developed not to harm but for medical purposes. It could indeed be used as anesthetic especially in cases where patients are allergic to more traditional anesthetizing substances or in developing countries with limited access or funds to purchase pharmaceutical-grade anesthetics.
"This pepper was developed because a lot of people are allergic to anesthesia and it can be applied to the skin because it's strong enough to numb," said Smith.
Chilli is so powerful that it is stored in a specially sealed container and will be exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show, the most famous floriculture fair in the world.

Smith's dragon's breath will likely enter the Gunness of Records but official confirmation is yet to come that this pepper is indeed the hottest in the world.
