I donuts they are a sweet originally from Austria, delicious and very soft, often filled with cream, nutella or jam. Also widespread in our country.

The traditional recipe calls for them to be fried in oil, but we offer you, on the occasion of Carnival, a more version light and healthy. Which you can prepare in a few minutes with the air fryer, also experimenting with some delicious variations.

Cream donuts with air fryer: the recipe

La recipe for donuts that we propose comes from the ChiccheBiscotti Youtube channel. The dough in this case is baked in the oven, but we recommend that you opt for the air fryer.

ChiccheBiscotti stuff the donuts with custard, but if you prefer to keep them lighter, just don't add it to the dough.

Ingredients

  • 200 ml of warm milk;
  • 45 grams of whole cane sugar;
  • 10 gr of brewer's yeast;
  • 1 egg at room temperature;
  • 400 grams of flour 00;
  • 1 pinch of salt;
  • 50 gr of butter at room temperature;
  • powdered sugar;
  • "optional" custard (find the recipe here)

Method



Pour the warm milk into a bowl and add the brown sugar, mix the mixture with a ladle.

Add the chopped brewer's yeast and egg, continuing to mix.

Pour the flour slowly and continue to mix until you get a soft but compact dough, which you will have to continue kneading with your hands.

Add a pinch of salt and then the butter, continuing to knead.

Place the dough on a flat surface after having sprinkled it with a little flour and continue to knead, then place it inside a container covered with cling film. Let it rise for 1 or 2 hours.

Remove the film and make 9/10 pieces of 60 g each from the dough. Place the donuts on a baking sheet, cover them with other film and leave them to rise for another 20 minutes.

Instead of baking them in the oven as the video suggests, we advise you to preheat the air fryer at 180 ° for 3 minutes. Then place the donuts on the basket well spaced, and cook for 4-5 minutes. Turn them over and cook for another 4-5 minutes.

Finally sprinkle them with a little icing sugar and if you want, fill them with a spoonful of custard.
