Tips and precautions to make the onions grow better

If you choose to plant the bulbs in a vase, remember to place them with the green part sprouted upwards (which must therefore come out of the ground) and place them in a sunny area, for example on a balcony or on the windowsill. To best grow your onions, use a vase at least 40 cm deep and equipped with a hole for draining excess water. The seedlings should be watered regularly, trying to keep the soil always moist but never too wet. Onions do not tolerate excess water and the bulb risks being attacked by fungal diseases.

If, on the other hand, you decide to plant sprouted onions directly in a garden or vegetable garden, be careful to remove the weeds. Again, remember to water them regularly. When will it be possible to harvest the new fresh onions? This depends on the initial size of the bulbs at the time of sowing and on the variety of onion. Growing onions can give you great satisfaction and is a great way to give new life to food waste.
