It is time to chestnuts! In recent months we have been tasting them in many ways: there are those who prefer them baked, those boiled and those who try their hand at more delicious recipes such as marron glacé or Castagnaccio, a typical dessert of the Tuscan tradition. Not everyone knows, however, that chestnut peels can be reused. How? For example to prepare a decoction to be applied on brown hair.
This grandmother's remedy serves in fact to make the hair brighter and give slightly coppery reflections, practically at no cost. Let's find out how to proceed.
How to prepare the decoction
Making the decoction is really simple and takes half an hour. Take about fifteen chestnut peels and immerse them in a pot with about one and a half liters of water. Bring to a boil and let them boil for about 3 minutes over low heat. As you will notice that the water will turn dark brown.
Now filter it using a colander and wait for it to become lukewarm before applying it to your hair as a post-shampoo rinse. If you prefer, you can use a spray dispenser.
Of course this is not a real color, but you will see that the decoction will help to intensify your brown hair, giving a slightly coppery effect to the hair.
