Snatched from their mothers when they were about a month old and locked up in small cages: this is the agonizing fate of a dozen puppies, put up for sale in a pet shop in the center of Naples. The managers of the business thought they could act undisturbed, but fortunately the affair ended with the timely intervention of the police who seized the 10 puppies.





The Zoofile Guards of theENPA (National Animal Protection Authority), who immediately contacted the local police of Naples. And the blitz confirmed what was reported by the animal rights association. The poor dogs, born about 30 days old, were kept in the shop in small cages used for rabbits and in conditions incompatible with the needs of the dogs.

There are two identified perpetrators who will now have to answer for the mistreatment of animals and the illicit trafficking of animals from abroad. In addition, she has also been accused of administrative health violations related to the sale of puppies under the age of 60 days and without registry registrations. The 10 puppies seized were entrusted to the veterinarians of the Asl Napoli 1 Centro for the necessary treatments and vaccinations.

The second kidnapping within a month in Naples

The operation conducted by the ENPA Zoophile Guards together with the police is already the second in the space of a month in the province of Naples. On 23 December another blitz led to the kidnapping of 38 other purebred dogs, also illegally trafficked from abroad.

We are carrying out a dense series of investigations in the Campania region - says Saverio Capriglione, Regional Inspector of Enpa Zoophile Guards of Campania - because illicit trafficking and the mistreatment of puppies is a very present problem in this area. This is the second operation in less than a month leading to the kidnapping of the puppies. A necessary and important action to intercept illicit trafficking in abused and even sick animals, with pathologies hidden by the illegal use of drugs carried out by unscrupulous criminals.
