They found the poor Rottweiler strangled dead abandoned by its owner on the banks of the Roja river, in Roverino. He had tied it with a rope and left it there, slowly dying, without water or food.

To spread the news, also reported by Sanremo News, was the Arkus volunteer association. In reality, the dog died in July but the conclusion of the investigations conducted by the Ventimiglia forest police, who in the meantime denounced the owner for mistreatment and killing, was expected to talk about it.

The dog was abandoned in a ground under the summer heat, near a river to which, however, he had no access. In an attempt to free himself in order to reach him, the rope choked him. The autopsy of the Zooprophylactic Institute confirmed the death from dehydration and suffocation.

The ARKUS association said about the sad story:

«Now, we wanted to describe the strictly necessary of the fact because the commitment of ARKUS is also that of sensitizing people, putting them before the duty of defending animals. It is not easy to defend the wild ones, perhaps this sensitivity is not yet felt in all its importance. But pets, such as dogs and cats, are not strangers, they are part of the family and it is not enough to look in your own backyard to "not have trouble". If we had more courage and listened to our conscience more, many dogs or cats would be saved from the barbarism, selfishness and frustrations of their owners ".

He also added that it is very important to report similar cases immediately and that, if you do not have the courage to do so, you can always ask for help from the Forestry Carabinieri, the State Police, the local Police, "those for whom confidentiality is the first duty to give peace of mind to the whistleblower or complainant. " To avoid it being too late, as in the case of this Rottweiler.
